Dr. Nicholas G. Gomez, PhD, CPO, FAAOP
Nicholas Gomez is an Injury Biomechanics Consultant with expertise in biomechanics and holds degrees in Bioengineering, Health Sciences, and Mechanical Engineering. He is an adjunct professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Utah, and the College of Health, Human Services & Nursing at California State University, Dominguez Hills. He has a diverse research background that includes investigations on how the environment impacts safety during gait, quantification of factors that affect injury potential of the head and neck, and epidemiological studies investigating factors that impact costs and disability time following work-related injuries. This research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at several conferences. Dr. Gomez serves as a peer-reviewer for several journals and organizations and maintains membership in the following organizations and societies:
American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)
American Society of Biomechanics
American Society of Mechanical Engineers
SAE International
American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists
Human Factors and Ergonomics Society
American Society of Safety Professionals
Dr. Gomez is an ABC-Certified Prosthetist-Orthotist (CPO) who is recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (FAAOP), and has experience providing clinical care to those with limb loss and/or orthopedic injuries. In addition to his research and clinical experience, he has received extensive interdisciplinary training in the areas of Occupational & Environmental Health, Ergonomics & Safety, Engineering, Anatomy & Physiology, Biomechanics, and Accident Reconstruction. His education, training, and experience have been directly applied to cases such as those involving head trauma, slips, trips and falls, motor vehicle collisions, workplace incidents, bicycle incidents, and incidents occurring during a sporting event.
